Beboc at the Retail Energy Code Roadshow

Last week, Beboc attended the Retail Energy Code (RECCO) Roadshow in Manchester. The event underscored the essential role of the RECCO in shaping the future of the energy industry, particularly as it focuses on facilitating net-zero transitions, digital transformations, and code governance reforms.

Our attendance allowed us to see firsthand how industry feedback is driving meaningful change across the energy landscape—a key focus that aligns closely with Beboc’s own ethos of continuous improvement.

A Focus on Continuous Improvement and Stakeholder Engagement

The REC Code Manager has been strongly committed to addressing stakeholder feedback and implementing changes that improve service delivery and transparency.

The event clearly showed that RECCO’s service offerings have significantly evolved over the past year, focusing on stakeholder engagement, operational efficiency, and data management. REC’s Code Manager has actively sought feedback from service providers and market participants, which has led to enhancements in everything from performance assurance to the usability of digital platforms.

One notable takeaway was the introduction of dedicated Operational Account Managers, which ensures that each of RECCO’s core services is aligned with stakeholder priorities and continuously monitored for quality improvements.

This focus on dedicated attention to stakeholder needs is something we at Beboc also prioritise in our own service offerings, ensuring that our solutions are tailored to the specific challenges and goals of our clients.

Digital Transformation at the Core

As digital innovation drives the future of energy, it was refreshing to see that RECCO is prioritising improvements to its digital platforms. The user feedback received through the REC Annual Survey has led to significant changes in how digital services are delivered, with a focus on improving navigation, integration, and usability. The launch of the new REC Portal and its intuitive mega menu are just the beginning of a larger strategy to develop a user-centric, fully integrated digital ecosystem.

This vision aligns with Beboc’s own commitment to providing seamless digital solutions that enhance user experience and operational efficiency.

Our ongoing projects in asset management and renewable energy installation are heavily reliant on robust, intuitive digital platforms—similar to what RECCO is now championing. By staying ahead of digital trends, RECCO is creating a more streamlined, engaging user experience, much like the solutions we offer to our diverse range of clients in utilities, renewable energy, and other sectors.

The Future of Code Governance and Reform

One of the most significant topics discussed at the Roadshow was the upcoming changes in code governance. The UK energy sector is on the cusp of a major transformation, driven by Ofgem’s Code Reform, which aims to consolidate and reduce the number of energy codes, making the regulatory environment easier to navigate. The Retail Energy Code Company will play a central role in this consolidation, with the REC and the BSC being included in the first phase of reforms starting in 2026.

These changes will ensure that the code managers are more accountable and that stakeholder views are adequately represented in the decision-making process. This governance reform is designed to make the energy market more agile and better positioned to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving industry—particularly as the UK strives toward its net-zero goals.

Beboc fully supports this direction, and our own solutions in energy management and renewable energy installation are designed to support businesses in adapting to the future landscape of energy regulations.

Beboc’s Commitment to the Future

As Beboc continues to innovate and deliver state-of-the-art asset management and renewable energy solutions, participating in events like the REC Roadshow ensures we remain at the forefront of industry developments. The insights gained from the event will be invaluable as we continue to tailor our offerings to meet the evolving needs of our clients in the energy sector and beyond.

We believe that the future of energy lies in innovation, collaboration, and a relentless focus on improving user experience—principles that were clearly on display at the RECCO Roadshow. As the RECCO prepares for its next phase of digital transformation and code governance reform, Beboc is excited to be part of this journey, bringing our expertise to the table and helping shape the future of energy.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to bring industry-leading solutions to the market!
